Jayson Pescasio

Artistic Director

A native of the Philippines, Jayson Pescasio began his formal ballet training at age ten under Brezhnev Larlar at Teatro Baile de Cavite. His early promise was recognized nationally when he received the Award for Outstanding Achievement and Exemplary Performance from President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in 2004.
From 2004 to 2009, Mr. Pescasio was a company member with Ballet Philippines while pursuing his studies at De La Salle College of Saint Benilde in Manila. In 2011, he joined Ballet San Antonio as a Soloist and was promoted to Principal the following season.
Mr. Pescasio has performed an extensive repertoire of principal roles, including Dracula, Cinderella, The Nutcracker, Peter Pan, Firebird, Romeo and Juliet, Don Quixote, Coppélia, Swan Lake, and Billy the Kid, as well as Balanchine’s Donizetti Variations and Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux. In 2014, he competed at the USA International Ballet Competition in Jackson, Mississippi.
He joined Carolina Ballet in 2018, where he was quickly promoted to Soloist and then to Principal in 2020. His featured roles include works such as Fancy Free, Time Gallery, The Planets, Swan Lake, Rubies, Robert Weiss’ Beethoven Symphony No. 7, Movement III (“A Folk Dance”), Romeo and Juliet, and Giselle.
With over fifteen years of experience in teaching and choreography, Mr. Pescasio brings a dynamic artistic vision, vibrant energy, and a nurturing, inclusive approach to his leadership as Artistic Director.
